DESIGNED BY PATRICIA URQUIOLA
The rounded, soft and sinuous shapes of the Fat-Sofa seating system are the basis for the new outdoor version, characterized by a brand new interlacing design. Its fully padded seat is accompanied by a metal frame backrest that supports the original weave, creating a special play of fullness and emptiness. The large weave pattern, made of tortora coloured twisted polyethylene fibres, makes the design unique and respects the designer’s idea of lightness, transparency and puts the furnishings in an open “dialogue” with the surrounding environment. Fat-Sofa Outdoor consists of four types, ranging from the linear sofa to a chaise longue, to two height variants in the armchairs.
Square, rectangular or circular in shape and set in the centre of a room or next to the sofa, the Lithos collection include tables with tops in black Portoro marble, black marquinia marble, white Calacatta marble and beige travertine marble. They are also available in a wooden version with slatted upper and lower surfaces in grey oak, brown oak, light brushed oak or black brushed oak finishes. The frame is in painted bronzed nickel steel. Through this program it is available as a square low table 35 x 35” with a Calacatta marble top.
The concept behind the Charles is to have a high seat modular sofa with all the elements available in different forms, types and sizes. Linear and corner compositions have been developed with these elements in mind, especially for the chaise lounge end units. The Charles’ peninsula-style compositions look especially beautiful as the centerpiece of a room. The single-seat cushion, the free pillows placed on the backrest and the pure lines of the die-cast aluminium feet give the Charles sofa a decidedly modern feel.
The Up Series was designed in 1969 and has remained an iconic design piece within the B&B Italia collection for more than 40 years. The Up5 chair, known for its striking representation of feminine strength and struggle, continues to be meaningful and relevant. It reflects a world sensibility with symbolism, irony, beauty and is truly the epitome of a timeless design.
Charlotte by Antonio Citterio is a tribute to lightness. The shell is completely covered, but the frame profile is visible on the chair side, thus highlighting the line of the seat. The cover is in raw cut full grain leather.
