The Up Series was designed in 1969 and has remained an iconic design piece within the B&B Italia collection for more than 40 years. The Up5 chair, known for its striking representation of feminine strength and struggle, continues to be meaningful and relevant. It reflects a world sensibility with symbolism, irony, beauty and is truly the epitome of a timeless design.
The design begins from a strongly contemporary seating system distinguished by a careful search for formal balance. The seating system support base is made of crosspiece with rounded steel feet connected to each other by a bar. All this is finished in pewter painted color. This seating system offers a sofa bed (cm 150 x 210), the only one in the B&B Italia collection, available through quick ship program.
VINCENT VAN DUYSEN
Paul is a seating system with elegant proportions and reassuring lines. A lightweight image, marked with distinctive double stitching and accentuated by the essential design of the die-cast aluminium feet. Elements with a generous width complete the system to guarantee comfortable seating with a welcoming and luxurious look.
STUDIO HANNES WETTSTEIN
Reversi ‘14 reveals a strong, rational personality and affirms its reputation for comfort and warmth. The 3-position backrest mechanism makes it possible to change the seat depth to create a rational space for work and a welcoming space for relaxing – both on the same sofa. Reversi ‘14 offers excellent modular solutions – its logical components can be assembled in a wide range of compositions that include linear elements, corner elements, chaise longue pieces and poufs. The structure in polyurethane foam in different thicknesses holds comfortable seat cushions. Backrests are organised in two configurations: cushions adjacent to one another to occupy all available space, and cushions spaced apart.
GIO PONTI
The armchair was designed for one of the projects closest to Gio Ponti’s heart, the villa of the Planchart collectors in Caracas (1953-57). It is part of the Gio Ponti Collection, which was curated by Molteni&C under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati. The architecture reflected the ideas he had gathered during his trips to Latin America in 1952-53. Today the armchair, which is like a cosy shell, has a rigid polyurethane frame, a soft polyurethane counter-frame and a cushion, and is upholstered in the Molteni&C textile range, with the option of differentiating the three component parts. In 2016 this “love chair” won the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards and became a Molteni&C icon. Wallpaper* Design Award 2016
