Located in the Upper Kirby area of Houston, Texas, BeDESIGN is the city’s destination for modern furnishings and contemporary European designs. After opening our doors in 2016, we’ve continued our mission of welcoming visitors into our world of design. We strive to make our own contribution to the city we call home, which is in a constant state of change and renewal. A recent renovation of the showroom’s original building, combined with an expansive, three-level addition on the adjacent property, has more than tripled our size, positioning us as one the world’s best and largest showrooms of its class. We feature a collection of the world’s best furniture, lighting, rugs, closet, kitchens, and accessories brands. The interior is minimalist, relaxed, and comfortable with large ceiling to floor windows that allow the space to be filled with natural light, highlighting the iconic designs of our showcased collections. HOUSTON, TX — Adrian Dueñas, born in Ecuador and raised in an international milieu, is owner and CEO of the award-winning home décor concept BeDESIGN, a nationally recognized luxury furniture showroom in Houston’s chic Montrose neighborhood. The BeDESIGN concept, born six years ago out of love for art, design and culture, came when Dueñas identified Houston as a market on the cusp of explosive growth and seized the opportunity to bring new brands to a city uniquely equipped to adopt a diverse portfolio of contemporary luxury.
After exceeding first-year sales projections in the midst of an oil downturn, Dueñas and his partner Marcelo Saeñz persuaded the storied Italian brand Kartell to enter the Houston market with a new flagship store in the River Oaks Shopping Center — a move that would launch BeDESIGN into additional exclusive partnerships with other European home decor brands and the wide ranging roster of new-to-market products that come with them.
Through shrewd business acumen, Dueñas has evolved Houston’s luxury furniture options in new directions with both established and fledgling European luxury brands, creating a heretofore unforeseen level of supply and demand in the process. Working tirelessly to cultivate relationships with some of the world’s most exquisite and sought-after brands – including Molteni&C, Paola Lenti, Flexform, B&B Italia, and Ligne Roset – their diligence has given them the competitive edge of becoming the exclusive representative for dozens of celebrated brands.
BeDESIGN operates under the umbrella of Dueñas’ Madrid-based interior design firm Welcome Design, which began as a modest designer-driven shop and has evolved into an international hospitality design company with commercial projects throughout Europe and North America — including major projects in Mexico employing Houston-based designers and developers.
BeDESIGN’s original parent company, Promostock, operates in South America and Houston as a producer of promotional items for large corporations like Nestle, Unilever, and Procter & Gamble.
BeDESIGN continues to strategically build their distribution network in Texas and North America as well as international markets, laying the necessary foundation to bring additional designers, artists, and risk-averse brands to an increasingly important, but relatively untested luxury market. While already a destination for interior decorators, architects, design professionals and private clients, BeDESIGN is undergoing a major expansion which will position it as the largest showroom for luxury Italian furniture, custom kitchens and closet systems in the United States.
Apart from growing his business, Dueñas actively participates in several non-profit organizations. He is personally committed to campaigning for Human Rights and AIDS awareness as a board member of AIDS Foundation Houston and supporting the arts by chairing the 2022 Contemporary Arts Museum Gala and Art Auction. BeDESIGN has been enthusiastically received by the Houston community, while Dueñas himself has become a staple in social circles and the design world from Texas and New York to Milan, Barcelona and beyond.

Marcelo Sáenz was born in Quito, Ecuador. Guided by an early and profound passion for design, he pursued a degree in Interior Design at Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial in Quito, where he graduated with a gold medal as the top student of his class. He began his career working as an interior designer for nearly two years before advancing his education with a master’s degree in Interior Design from the University of Salamanca in Spain.
Upon returning to Ecuador, Marcelo launched his own interior design firm, leading a wide portfolio of commercial projects across the country. His work positioned him as a key figure in developing new branding and franchise concepts for some of Ecuador’s largest retail chains, including pharmacies, banks, baby stores, and luxury residential common areas. He also oversaw interior design and renovation projects for renowned hospitality brands such as Hilton and Wyndham, delivering comprehensive, turnkey solutions.
In the next chapter of his career, Marcelo and his husband, Adrian, founded BeDESIGN, a high-end design showroom representing top European brands of furniture, closets, kitchens, and lighting. After commissioning extensive market research from a New York–based firm and identifying Houston as the optimal location, they opened the flagship showroom in the city. Today, as co-founder and lead designer of BeDESIGN, Marcelo works closely with architects and interior designers, guiding them in the selection of the finest Italian furniture while curating sophisticated vignettes across the 22,000-square-foot showroom.
Marcelo later partnered with the University of Salamanca’s master’s program team to establish BeDESIGN Madrid, expanding the brand internationally. This collaboration has opened new opportunities in interior design and enabled the placement of BeDESIGN’s curated furniture collections in unique and highly refined projects throughout Spain.
Driven not only by a passion for design but also by a commitment to giving back, Marcelo has been actively involved in philanthropic work. He has supported initiatives benefiting underserved children in Ecuador and currently contributes to several Houston-based cultural and nonprofit organizations, including the Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Symphony, among others.
