BD Barcelona
BD Barcelona Design was founded in 1972 in Barcelona, originally as BD Ediciones de Diseño, by five architects and designers: Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, and Oscar Tusquets Blanca, all members of the architecture practice Studio Per, together with interior designer Mireia Riera. Since 1975, the company has produced furniture and objects originally designed by Antoni Gaudí, including the Calvet chair, handcrafted in solid oak using the same methods as the original 1902 manufactory for Casa Calvet. BD Barcelona also holds the exclusive worldwide rights to Salvador Dalí’s furniture designs, developed in collaboration with the artist’s close friend, architect and designer Oscar Tusquets Blanca. The Dalí Collection includes surrealist pieces such as the Dalilips sofa, the Leda sculpture armchair and table, the Bracelli sculpture lamp, and the Portlligat sunbed.
In 2023, its 50th anniversary year, BD Barcelona unveiled a new brand identity and staged a takeover exhibition at Peres Projects gallery during Milan Design Week, commissioning contemporary designers including Max Lamb and Philippe Malouin to extend its surrealist, artist-driven design language into a new generation.
