Pianca
Pianca traces to founder Enrico Pianca, whose family roots are in Gaiarine, in the Treviso province of Italy’s Veneto region. Enrico and his cousin Giambattista first emigrated to Venezuela, making wooden footwear molds, before Enrico returned home to grow the family trade into an industrial furniture company focused on bedrooms and living spaces. Pianca exhibited at the first-ever Salone del Mobile in Milan in 1961 and has shown there every year since, a run the company has celebrated at both its 50th and 60th anniversaries. The company remains headquartered in Gaiarine, where milestones have included an early industry shift to chipboard construction, FSC Chain of Custody certification, a 9,000-square-meter factory in nearby Roverbasso, and Palazzo Pianca, a research-focused hospitality space the brand opened in Venice.
Cristina Celestino designed the Calatea armchair, later reissued in eco-friendly materials as Calatea Green. Stockholm’s Note Design Studio designed the Embrace bed, winner of a 2022 A’ Design Award in the Furniture Design category, and Pier Luigi Frighetto’s Elide chair, built around a woven Kraft-paper cord seat, won the 2025 Archiproducts Design Award. Zanellato/Bortotto, the Treviso-based studio, designed the Sabi table.
