Kettal
Kettal is a Spanish outdoor furniture company founded in Barcelona in 1966 by Manuel Alorda, and today it stands among the world’s leading names in high-end outdoor design. Around 2000 the company strengthened its position by acquiring the historic brands Hugonet and Triconfort, and under the second generation of the family, led by Alex Alorda, it has grown into an international business that manufactures near Barcelona and exports the great majority of its production, with monobrand showrooms in cities including London, Paris, and New York. Kettal’s work has been recognized with Spain’s National Design Prize, and its furniture outfits landmark hospitality projects such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris and resorts and hotels around the world. In 2026, its 60th-anniversary year, the company also moved into interiors by taking a majority stake in the Italian brand Driade.
Kettal’s collections read like a who’s-who of contemporary design. Patricia Urquiola’s Maia collection, with its woven three-dimensional lattice, marked a turning point for the brand and opened a collaboration that has continued for well over a decade with collections such as Band and Insula. Rodolfo Dordoni’s Bitta collection wraps aluminum frames in woven polyester cords inspired by mooring bollards; Jasper Morrison’s Village chairs bring his understated precision to the outdoors; and Hella Jongerius’s Bob armchair won a Wallpaper* Design Award in 2011. The Basket chair revives a 1950s design by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel, while other collaborators include Konstantin Grcic, Antonio Citterio, Doshi Levien, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Across the range, Kettal develops its own weather-resistant materials — aluminum frames, technical fabrics, and hand-woven cords — engineered for life outdoors without sacrificing the comfort of indoor furniture.
