Gandia Blasco

GANDIABLASCO is a Spanish outdoor furniture brand with roots reaching back to 1941, when José Gandía Blasco founded a textile company in Ontinyent, Valencia, that made blankets for four decades. In the 1980s and 1990s the founder’s son, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, redirected the family business toward design, and in 1996 the company produced its first outdoor furniture collection: Na Xemena, designed by architect Ramón Esteve in collaboration with Gandía-Blasco himself and named after his house on Ibiza. By 1999 outdoor furniture had become the core of the business, and today GANDIABLASCO anchors the Gandia Blasco Group alongside GAN, its handmade rug brand, and Diabla, a colorful casual outdoor line launched in 2018. The group opened its United States subsidiary in 2005, and its work has earned Red Dot Design Awards in 2008 and 2010 as well as multiple NYCxDESIGN and Best of Year honors.

The minimalist aluminum architecture introduced with Na Xemena remains the brand’s signature, carried forward in collections such as Flat by Mario Ruiz and DNA (2016) and Tipi (2007) by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales. The Solanas collection by Daniel Germani, launched at the Salone del Mobile in 2018, pairs thermo-lacquered aluminum with Dekton surfaces and takes its name from a beach the designer visited as a child in Uruguay. Recent collaborations extend to some of the most respected names in international design, including Kengo Kuma (Hos), Luca Nichetto (Onde), Sebastian Herkner (Isla), Nao Tamura (Dunne), and Francesco Meda and David Quincoces (Onsen). Built for Mediterranean living, the collections combine architectural geometry with weather-resistant materials, turning terraces, gardens, and poolsides into fully furnished outdoor rooms.
