Gessi
Gessi was founded in 1992 by Umberto Gessi and his son Gian Luca Gessi in Serravalle Sesia, in Italy’s Piedmont region, where the company’s Parco Gessi campus still produces every product start to finish. The Griffe collection launched that first year, and the 1996 Diverso collection marked the brand’s shift toward design-led fixtures rather than purely functional hardware. Gessi remains family-controlled today: Gian Luca Gessi serves as CEO and president, and his sons Nicolò and Emanuele are now active in the business. The company has expanded internationally since 2006 through its own Casa Gessi flagship showrooms in Milan, London, Dubai, and Singapore.
Architect Kengo Kuma designed the Incastri collection for Gessi, drawing on traditional Japanese joinery and water rituals in its faucet and basin forms. The Jacqueline tap collection, built from hand-selected, heat-bent bamboo root, was developed with the same construction logic used in high-end fashion accessories. The Perle collection, part of Gessi’s Haute Culture line and finished in Emperador Dark marble and onyx, won the iF Design Award in the Product category in 2024, and Gessi’s New Classic faucet series has received a Red Dot Design Award. Gessi describes itself as “the benchmark brand in the realm of wellness,” positioning its collections around what it calls Private Wellness.
